Jonathan Morgan was one of the original 60 Members of the National Assembly for Wales elected in
1999 and for 12 years he served as one of the most recognised AMs.

As a front bench spokesman for almost 12 years he held the Shadow Ministerial portfolios of Education (1999 - 2003), Health (2003 - 2009) and Local Government (2010 - 2011) and has the experience of chairing the two committees of the Assembly with the greatest responsibilities, dealing with complex policy areas and legislation.

His chairmanship of the Assembly's Health, Well-being and Local Government Committee contributed to the development of public policy across the health and local government sector, producing well researched and evidence based reports. Between 2009 and 2010 he was also Chair of the Public Accounts Committee of the Assembly, the body which works with the Wales Audit Office in the scrutiny of the spending of public money and the effectiveness of government programme delivery.

He became the first AM to succeed in legislating to provide the Assembly with the competence to pass laws in the field of mental health and became widely recognised as the leading political voice for those with mental ill health who lived with the challenges of accessing health, social care and housing.

Since leaving the Assembly in 2011 Jonathan is now working for a number of private, public and third sector organisations in Wales and England who want to understand about the developments in legislation and improve how they can engage with the Welsh Government and the National Assembly.

He is also an Associate with Cardiff-based firm Practice Solutions www.practicesolutions-ltd.co.uk who deliver training and management solutions to health and social care organisations. Outside of politics he is a trustee of Bobath Cymru and also Autism Cymru.
